Heavy Duty Mechanic
*Must be Calgary Local
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will report directly to the Shop Foreman - District Service Line. The primary function of this position is to address mechanical issues and conduct preventative maintenance on all components of Sanjel Energy equipment.
Complete refurbishments and updates to existing Sanjel equipment
Gain working knowledge of Sanjel's equipment
Check equipment for proper performance
Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions and diagnose to determine extent of repair required
Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract (Class 1 Preferred)
Alberta Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate with Inter-provincial Red Seal or equivalent
Thorough safety knowledge and practice
Knowledge of hydraulic systems and pumps
Electrical wiring capabilities
Mechanical training in the oilfield industry is considered an asset
Driven, engaging individual who is a team player and can offer strong problem solving skills
Candidates with Military/Canadian Armed Forces experience are encouraged to apply

An exciting opportunity exists within the Maintenance Department for a Trades Supervisor – Mechanical. As the third largest school district in B.C. and located in the Tri-Cities of Metro Vancouver, the school district has a population of 33,000 students with approximately 3,900 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff.
This position reports to the Manager of Maintenance and is responsible for supervising and assigning the daily work of the Mechanical Trades, Electronics Technician and contractors.
• Plumbing, Pipefitting, Refrigeration or Electrical Trades Qualification Ticket
• Minimum for four relevant supervisory or management courses from a recognized college/institution
• A Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License
• Two years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson with experience in HVAC systems and some knowledge of other trades plus one year of supervision experience including;
• Strong Supervisory, interpersonal, coaching skills
• Ability to foster and encourage teamwork and cooperation with all departments in the school district.
• Good verbal and written skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, coworkers, supervisors, district and school administration, and contractors.
